The ingenuity and work ethic that characterize Ferrominera Orinoco’s human talent made it possible for a team from the Crane Operations and Maintenance Superintendence, part of the Heavy Equipment Management Division, to successfully restore two cranes (one 170‑ton unit and one 60‑ton unit). This achievement strengthens the logistics required to lift, move, and position heavy or oversized loads safely and with full operational control.

Specialists in the area carried out intervention work on electrical, electronic, and hydraulic systems; installed new diesel engines, lighting and telescopic systems; and replaced cylinders and tires, leaving both cranes fully operational in the industrial area of Puerto Ordaz.

According to the Annual Crane Recovery Plan of the Heavy Equipment Management Division, the state‑owned mining company is also planning the rehabilitation of three additional units—30‑ton, 40‑ton, and 300‑ton cranes—to meet the material‑handling needs of the Ciudad Piar operational center with greater precision.

The recovery of equipment is part of the strategic management lines led by CVG Ferrominera Orinoco President Aldo Cantafio, with the support of CVG, aimed at strengthening response capacity in lifting operations for oversized and heavy components, replacing conveyor belts, and mobilizing rolling equipment along the railway line. These improvements reduce downtime and equipment inactivity within the production process, directly contributing to the company’s operational efficiency.
