Ferrominera Orinoco’s Railway Management (CP) successfully restored 111 railcars—both hopper and gondola types—as part of the strategic directives of CVG Ferrominera Orinoco President Aldo Cantafio and the CVG. The objective is to increase fleet availability, clear railway lines, expand train formations, and boost iron ore production.

In January 2026, a qualified technical team was assembled and has been working continuously on optimizing the company’s rolling stock, generating positive results reflected in the recovery of 19 hopper cars (38%) and 32 gondola cars (62%), for a total of 51 units. Progress continued in February, with an additional 32 hopper cars (54%) and 28 gondola cars (46%) restored—adding 60 more railcars to the railway transport fleet.

Railway specialists from the Adelmo Rodríguez Railway Workshop Superintendence—Carlos Bonyorni, Humberto Castillo, José Mejías, Wilfredo Marchán, and Carlos Vargas—form the expert team that, in nearly two months, has carried out major repairs, adjustments, component replacements, brake system servicing, leak corrections in pipelines, and other technical interventions.

In 2026, CVG Ferrominera Orinoco aims to significantly surpass production figures. To achieve this, the company continues increasing the availability, reliability, and safety of its equipment—particularly railway units—which play a critical role in transporting iron ore from the Ciudad Piar mines to the processing plants in Puerto Ordaz.
