Ferrominera Orinoco is a leading Venezuelan producer of iron ore, pellets, and HBI, integrating mining, processing, rail transport, and river logistics.
OUR PRODUCTS
CVG Ferrominera Orinoco offers a portfolio of iron ore products designed for sintering, pelletizing, direct reduction, and steelmaking. Our product range includes high‑grade iron ore lumps, iron ore fines, iron ore pellets, and Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI), all produced under strict quality standards to meet the requirements of domestic and international steel producers.
Iron Ore Lumps
Iron ore lumps are high‑grade fragments obtained from primary crushing and screening. Their size distribution and metallurgical properties make them suitable for sintering, pelletizing, and direct reduction processes. Lumps provide high mechanical strength, low impurity levels, and stable furnace performance.
Specifications
Specifications:
mineral content: 64-65%
Size: < 3/8″ – 1 3/4
Iron Ore Pellets
Iron ore pellets are high-quality spherical agglomerates made from fine iron ore. They provide uniform size, high iron content, and strong metallurgical performance, making them essential for blast furnace operations, direct reduction, and Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI) production.
Specifications
Iron content: 67%
Size: 1/4″ x 5/8″
Iron Ore Fines
Iron ore fines are small particle materials used primarily in sintering and pelletizing. Their uniform granulometry and high iron content make them essential for producing pellets and for blending in steelmaking operations that require consistent chemical composition.
Specifications
Mineral content: 64-66%
Size: < 3/8″
Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI)
Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI) is a premium form of direct reduced iron made by compacting DRI at high temperature into dense, stable briquettes. It offers high metallization, low reactivity, and excellent handling, making it a valuable raw material for steelmaking.
Specifications
Total iron: > 91,5%
Metallic iron: > 85%
Size: 105 Cms³

IRON ORE GEOLOGICAL RESERVES
Ferrominera Orinoco’s geological reserves are the result of extensive exploration, drilling, and modeling. Proven reserves support long‑term mining plans, while probable reserves extend the operational horizon for several decades. Active deposits such as San Isidro, Los Barrancos, Altamira, and Las Pailas contain high‑grade iron ore with iron contents above 63%, reaching up to 65.5% in certain areas. These reserves ensure a stable and reliable supply of raw materials for domestic and international steel producers.
